Where Manchester
Why Manchester is a whole vibe right now. There’s a spanking new arts centre, brilliant gothic architecture, a blisteringly good food scene, and a host of ace festivals coming up.
When For the May Day Bank Holiday weekend so I can take in the Sounds From The Other City music and arts festival in Salford, Greater Manchester’s side quest city.
Where Glasgow
Why Och, for my Weegie roots! My great grandfather came from Glasgow so while the McAuslans moved south a few generations back, Glasgow with its Art Deco designs, Kelvingrove Art Gallery and brilliant people has always held a special place in my heart.
When January for the Celtic Connections music festival which looks amazing. Located around the city so it’s a great excuse to get to know Glasgow by exploring all the unique nooks, crannies and cool music venues.

Where Whitby
Why As a huge fan of Bram Stoker's 'Dracula' getting to see the ruins of Whitby Abbey in person is one to tick off the list. Whitby is also home to one end of the North York Moors Steam Railway, link to Viator trip which would be great for photography.
When End of October so I can spend Halloween link to Halloween blog there and get involved in the Whitby Goth Weekend.
Place Edinburgh
Why It’s a big, historic city with plenty to see and do so ideal for my first visit to Scotland.
When March, before the tourism season starts, while the trees and flowers in the many parks are starting to bloom.
Place York
Why York is filled with Viking history and amazing architecture from 13th century watch towers to 1960s concrete modernism and of course the incredible Gothic York Minster. Getting my own tiny ghost from The York Ghost Merchants is a high priority.
When October. When better to visit the city of a thousand ghosts that the spookiest month of the year?

Where Seaside town of Tenby, Pembrokeshire
Why To escape to the coast and take in the stunning scenery and some fresh seaside air. The colourful houses gives this harbour town so much character and you can find some amazing views over Carmarthen Bay.
When In the summer when you can take advantage of the longer days exploring the coastal paths and beautiful countryside in Pembrokeshire.
Where Bourton-on-the-Water, Gloucestershire
Why To enjoy a laid-back weekend in this tranquil countryside village in the picturesque Cotswolds. Bourton-on-the-Water is known as "The Venice of the Cotswolds" because of the stone bridges across the River Windrush which dates back to the 18th century. It's also only a 15 minute drive from Daylesford Organic Farm shop which is my favourite place to visit in the Cotswolds.

Why It’s one of the world’s greatest festivals for celebrating creativity in arts and culture and it's only a hop, skip and jump away from me in the Midlands. Every year promise myself I’ll go so 2024 is the year it’s going to happen! I love the fact it's scattered around the city, from small underground venues to in the open air on Princess Street, all under the backdrop of the stunning Edinburgh Castle.

Where Liverpool
Why There's a culture movement unfolding in Liverpool. It’s the former European City of Culture and in 2023 was the co-host to Eurovision. I want go and sample that. There's no one specific place I want to go, it's simply a case of wanting to spend the weekend hanging out and exploring one of the coolest and upbeat cities in the UK. I'll definitely be booking into the Titanic Hotel for a bit of luxury.
When: April so I can visit the relocated Tate Liverpool at the RIBA North, Mann Island

Where Cairngorms Highlands
Why I want to go hiking, skiing, cycling, canoeing on the lochs and stay in a bothy or a castle. I’ve heard skiing is good when there’s plenty of snow. Then I want to go on a tour of Speyside to visit some of the many whisky distilleries.
When Some time in late winter or early Spring, when there’s still snow but the crowds have departed.
Where Sennen Cove, Cornwall
Why I love Cornwall and I don’t visit enough. I want to go surfing with my brother and mates to Sennen Cove and other good spots along the north coast. I’ve surfed a few spots over the years and I’m always up for more.
When Early Spring or Autumn when the waves are better and it’s not as busy.
