More information

When you hear the name ‘Battersea’ you often think of two things: adorable cats and dogs in need of a home, or the iconic Battersea Power Station, a staple of the west London skyline. The power station was active from the 1930s until the 1980s, where at its prime, it was supplying electricity to over a fifth of London including Buckingham Palace and the Houses of Parliament.

Last year, the Grade II listed building reopened as a stunning high-end shopping centre filled with luxury brands and brilliant restaurants. To celebrate a year on from their grand opening, Battersea Power Station are hosting a 1950s inspired event with live music, vintage photo ops, guided tours, and a 50s beauty parlour!

Put on your poodle skirt and enjoy the classic tunes of the 50s from live bands and learn how to swing dance with professional dancers on hand to show you how. When you're tired from all the dancing, head to Control Room B for some 1950s inspired cocktails and drinks from the all-day bar.

Head over to MAC Cosmetics or Blush + Blow at the ‘Power Parlour’ to help you look the part with their ‘ultimate 50s glow up’ professional make up experience. Make sure to grab some Insta-worthy snaps at the vintage photo op area with your fiercely 50s face to be the envy of your mates!

Take a guided tour of the newly restored ‘Control Room A’ a replica of a working power station control room from Battersea’s glory days. Your guide will teach you the history of this amazing building with little known facts and titbits of interesting information.

Finally, why not end your day by collecting a ‘shilling’ from Searcys pop up within the power station to redeem at their champagne bar for treats and prizes, and of course enjoy the multitude of shops and restaurants available.
