More of an autumn girlie than a Halloween girlie? We’ve got autumn-core galore for you! We’ve found seven very select autumn events happening this autumn across the country to chase off those post-summer blues.

The Midnight Apothecary, London

This is one of London’s best kept secrets, hidden away on top of the Brunel Museum Tunnel Shaft in Rotherhithe, South London. The Midnight Apothecary serves up seasonal botanical cocktails around a communal firepit. S’mores kits are available to toast over your own individual hearth surrounded by your mates so grab your chunky knits and toasty boots and cosy up the evening.

Pumpkin Picking at Lower Ladysden, Kent

One of Kent’s best pick-your-own farm experiences brings you pumpkin picking for the month of October. Join Lower Ladysden farm for their yearly Pumpkin Festival throughout October to enjoy their pumpkin patch and browse their award-winning farm shop for all kinds of delicious goodies.

Candle Making, Tunbridge Wells

A relaxed two-hour candle making workshop with complimentary snacks and drinks based in Tunbridge Wells. You’ll get to create either two small or one large, scented candle of your choice with a range of containers to personalise your candle however you like. All equipment and materials are provided with you workshop making this a great, relaxing afternoon out with your pals.

Dark Skies Fringe Festival, Yorkshire (27th Oct - 5th Nov)

Wrap up in a warm hat, scarf, and gloves for the Dark Skies Fringe Festival in the North York Moors. There will be plenty of after dark events during this 10-day festival including stargazing, bike rides, dining under the stars, night walks, and birds of prey demonstrations. The dark has never been less frightening!

Illuminate the Gardens, Sheffield (3rd – 5th Nov)

Sheffield’s Botanical Gardens will be lit up for the first weekend of November with a stunning light and firework display. There are over 10 light installations, walkabout performers, two separate firework displays, and a light show each night. The dazzling lights against the dark night sky will show the Botanical Gardens in a brand-new light and it is not one to miss.

The Big Bake, London and Birmingham

Nothing says autumn like a fat slice of cake and happily Bake Off can dish it up! If you reckon you’re a star baker you can try your hand at baking with a friend in the big white tent? All equipment and ingredients are included, and the Big Bake team will even do the washing up for you. With a head baker on hand to help, you and your mates will easily make bakes worthy of Paul Hollywood (though sadly the big man and his handshakes won’t be on there in person).

Pottery Making Experience, London

Have a shot at making your own pot from scratch, perfectly catered to beginners. This workshop will take you through the steps from making, to firing, to painting with a professional to help and guide you through the stages. Design your pot as you wish and add all kinds of patterns and colours when painting and see which of your mates makes the most mess on the pottery wheel.
