The area of Thanet, Kent is known for stunning beaches and classic seaside staples, including stalls, fish and chips, shore-side rides, and amazing sandy beaches. Margate, (as well as its neighbouring resorts Broadstairs and Ramsgate), is no exception. With plenty of activities to choose from, this coastal paradise is suitable for everyone. Those who are more adventurous can hike or cycle the Viking Coastal Trail and explore the many beaches along this coastal peninsula. Or, if you’re after a more relaxing and slower paced trip, you could soak up some sun on the sandy beaches or have a romantic seaside dinner looking over the harbor.

By train: Margate station has great links to London stations and other areas in Kent. This would be the perfect option for a day trip.

There are a number of great restaurants in Margate, with many along the sea front! The Buoy and Oyster is a wonderful seafood restaurant over looking the bay.
