More information
What’ll help you power through the rest of winter? Rhubarb that’s what! Ok, weird flex, but we love the stuff and so will you after this quirky and rather tasty little food in Wakefield.
West Yorkshire visit
Good soil mixed with lots of ashes, horse manure and textile waste, and just the right amount of rain, puts Wakefield in the pink when it comes to rhubarb. The Yorkshire town is celebrated as the epicentre of UK rhubarb growing.
Rhubarb treats galore
The main part of the festival takes place in the town centre with over 50 stalls at the serving up an array of local treats, including rhubarb gins and jams, pickles, cheeses, baked goodies (crumble of course), and a whole heap more.
There's a whole line-up of workshops and activities including a serving of chef demos to level up your cocktail making skills. We’re on for a rhubarb and custard cocktail for sure.
Comedy night
The festival spills over into the evening too with laughs at the Rhu-bar Comedy Night on both Friday and Saturday evenings. Brace yourselves for hilarious performances from comedians including Angelos Epithemiou and the sensational Lost Voice Guy.
And to top it all off, why not extend your stay and embark on the Rhubarb Food & Drink Trail across the city? Explore restaurants and bars serving up inventive rhubarb-themed culinary delights and drinks throughout the entire weekend. It's an epicurean adventure waiting just around the corner!
