Sussex sparkling wines have often been compared to Champagne, one of the most renowned sparkling wines in the world, and accounts for almost a quarter of the wine produced in the UK. These wines also have a protected status, meaning strict guidelines must be met, so rest assured these wine producers know their stuff!
Join Great British Wine Tours on this beautiful day trip to some of the best wineries and vineyards in Sussex to enjoy award-winning wines, beautiful scenery and an amazing picnic lunch, all whilst travelling on a vintage London bus. This tour will depart and return you to the centre of Brighton, not far from the train station and is a great day out for anyone who wants to explore the growing English wine scene.
The first stop on your trip is Court Gardens Farm. Here you will learn about English wine production with a talk and tour from the masters themselves. You will be tutored on how to taste wines, which flavours to look out for, and how to differentiate them, turning you into a wine expert in the making. After your talk and tour, you’ll be able to taste up to four award-winning wines of all kinds, before setting up a beautiful locally sourced picnic hamper in the stunning vineyard gardens. Your hamper will include local quiches, breads, salads and chutneys as well as homemade cakes for dessert.
Your second stop is Bluebell Vineyard Estates where you will experience more tutored wine tasting of both still and sparkling wines, a tour of the picturesque grounds as well as a gift shop where you’ll have a chance to purchase your favourite wines from the taster session and support local quality produce.
You’ll then return to Brighton where your tour will come to an end.
