Many consider drag to be a modern form of art or may only know of the stereotypical ‘Dame’ character from your local panto but drag has a long history routed in Ancient Greece and even Shakespeare. Back then, women were not allowed to perform on stage or become actors meaning that male actors would dress up as the female characters in full make up and dress.
It is true that modern drag has come a long way from this. With the likes of Lily Savage, Lady Bunny and RuPaul paving the way to what is now a global industry full of wigs and sparkle, it is now an artistic expression, a chance to play around with the idea of gender, and also a fantastic form of entertainment!
FunnyBoyz Drag shows take over the Blundell Supper Club for a series of hilarious and brilliant performances by even more brilliant drag acts. Benidorm Bingo, Spin the Wheel, Tribute Acts and LipSync Battles are all on the cards at this event, and these Queens will Turn. It. Out!
For those die hard drag fans, FunnyBoyz also offers exclusive RuPaul’s Drag Race guest events available throughout the year. What a perfect opportunity to get a chance to meet your favourite Queens from the hit BBC 3 series, in an intimate and interactive environment.
All of these slay-tastic drag shows are fully interactive, with Queens getting people up from their tables for a dance, joining you at your tables for a quick kiki, and of course, creating a hugely entertaining event!
